Summertime floral finds

Looking to liven up your home for the summer? Add a pop of color to achieve that
Instagram-worthy vibe. And the best part? Publix makes it easy with bodacious bouquets of peonies and hydrangeas. They’re bright, colorful and will help transform your space.

Peonies
Peonies are one of the longest-lived perennial flowers. In the Middle Ages, they were prized for their medicinal properties and used as a cure for a wide array of ailments including gallstones, epileptic seizures and jaundice.

Peonies require a lot of sunlight. When arranging, cut the stems at an angle and place them in cool water with flower food. To get the most life out of peonies, refresh the water and trim the stems every 2 days. When properly cared for, expect peonies to last 7 to 10 days in your home.

Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas symbolize grace, gratitude and beauty. They’re native to southern and eastern Asia, and North and South America.

Hydrangeas’ blooms last longer when they’re placed in cool, bright spots and out of direct light. They need lots of water, but it is possible to overwater. Signs of overwatering include brown leaf edges and leaf drops. Running a humidifier in your home also helps with blooming. With proper care and handling, you can enjoy hydrangeas for more than 10 days.
