Publix pharmacists are healing the world one patient at a time

Being a Publix Pharmacist doesn’t just mean filling prescriptions; it means going the extra mile to make a difference in our communities.

During the month of October, we celebrate Pharmacists Appreciation Month. And appreciate them we do! Our pharmacists and their teams have led us fearlessly throughout the pandemic and work tirelessly to support our customers through their health and wellness journeys. And often that means more than standing behind the counter while filling prescriptions.

“Taking care of patients is our ultimate goal at Publix,” said Assistant Pharmacy Manager Meyken Lee Hechavarria, #1326, Bradenton, Florida. “Going above and beyond is our company’s mission. We show that by taking the extra time to help our customers receive the care and prescriptions they need.”

So, what does providing care mean to Publix pharmacists?

“When you are on a journey with people going through those difficult times in their lives, sometimes they need someone to listen and simply reach out and touch their hand,” said Assistant Pharmacy Manager Koreen Sanders, #1664, Daytona Beach, Florida. “We can make such an impact by doing things that may seem small to us but leave a lasting impression on our communities. Publix encourages that, which is why I am so proud to serve as a pharmacist here.”

While most of our pharmacists may have started out at other retailers, Publix’s mission and values are a breath of fresh air that most pharmacists don’t get to experience in health care.

“I love caring for people and showing them what health care workers are here for. Our customers should feel like we really care,” said Pharmacy Manager Kim Triebell, #1214, Satellite Beach, Florida. “When I came to Publix, I realized that my values and beliefs in caring for patients were aligned with the company’s mission and history.”

Our pharmacists take pride in carrying on Mr. George’s legacy by providing our legendary customer service, no matter what the days may bring.

“There are plenty of times when I’ll hop behind the register and help ring people up so I can say ‘Hi,’ and make myself available if our customers have questions,” said Pharmacy Manager Jake Pugh, #765, Dunwoody, Georgia. “That extra piece of personal connection and remembering small things about returning customers is what continues to separate us from our competitors.”

Publix is thankful for our pharmacists and appreciates all the amazing work they do day after day. Be sure to stop by and thank your local pharmacy team the next time you head to work!
