Meet Pharmacy Manager Brenda Greene

Brenda Greene, #1792, Yulee, Florida, loves her job. She has been working for Publix for 4 years.

Why did you want to become a pharmacist?
I wanted to help people. The mental paycheck from this job is a real thing and it’s so rewarding. I was a registered nurse for 12 years before this and had great relationships with the pharmacists on our unit. I was very interested in pharmacology and decided to pursue pharmacy.

What are the biggest challenges of being a pharmacist?
Drug shortages exist, but we try to create opportunities where there are challenges. We do everything we can to help our customers by checking other Publix locations, calling other pharmacies and getting alternative therapy, if appropriate.

What keeps you going every day?
My technicians and my customers! I love that I can depend on my team to provide premier service. Our team strives to perpetuate the Publix culture, and our customers appreciate their dedication.

If you were not a pharmacist, what would you be?
A paleontologist! I’ve always loved dinosaurs.

Who do you admire or who inspires you?
Senior Director of Pharmacy Retail Operations Kathy Leonard is someone who I admire. She is such an inspiration and an amazing leader. I see how she positively influences everyone and makes people feel valued. I strive to be that encouraging to the people around me.

What are your hobbies?
I love going to Jacksonville Jaguar football games. My husband and I have season tickets, so I try to go to every game I can. I also love the Florida Gators football team and going to Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp games.

What is your motto?
Leadership is an action, not a position.
